Simplifying complexity:

How we told the ProteinHub Story through Design and Motion

Recently, I had the opportunity to work on a launch package for ProteinHub, an innovative desktop application designed to compliment the special protein workflow.
The goal was clear, communicate how ProteinHub simplifies complex data, boosts visibility, and ultimately gives clinical teams the freedom to focus on what matters most—better patient outcomes.
I tackled the project by creating a detailed technical brochure and a dynamic animated video. ProteinHub is built to solve the "data silo" problem in laboratories. My design challenge was to take a technical software solution and give it a human-centric narrative.
For the brochure I focused on a clean, but detailed structure to distill the "efficiency" and "data visibility" benefits into digestible sections, ensuring that busy lab managers could grasp the value proposition at a glance.

ProteinHub Brochure

While the brochure handled the deep dive, the animated video needed to capture the energy of a streamlined workflow. I used motion to showcase how ProteinHub can distill all of the data from not only Binding Site products but also other products such as Electrophoresis and LabLink xL into one place and how you can personalise the data to your needs but also compare that data with a global network. Creating the perfect 'Protein Island' a previous Binding Site concept I had helped visualise. I created animated pieces that matched the brochure for consistency and cohesiveness.
This project served as a major milestone for my technical growth as a designer. To truly capture the "boosted visibility" ProteinHub offers, I pushed my animation skills further than ever before. Learning new techniques within Aftereffects and moving beyond basic keyframing, I focused on the pacing of the narrative—matching the visual "reveals" to the core benefits of the application.
One of the most exciting aspects of this project was integrating AI-driven tools to elevate the production value. Sound design is often the "hidden" hero of video, and for ProteinHub, I needed a voiceover and backing track that felt professional, knowledgable and understanding.
I utilized Adobe’s AI-powered Speech and Sound generators to bridge the gap between a "work-in-progress" and a "polished production."
Adobe AI Speech Generator allowed me to select a voice from multiple genders, age ranges and speech pattern and transform them into studio-quality narration, ensuring the message about patient outcomes was crystal clear.
Adobe's AI Audio assisted in timing the background track, ensuring the swells and dips in the music aligned perfectly with the key features being highlighted on screen.
The final ProteinHub assets do more than just show off a new desktop application; they tell a story of empowerment. Combining the tactile reliability of a printed brochure with the modern energy of an AI-enhanced animation, we created a toolkit that speaks about not only understanding the issues laboratories face but also how ProteinHub can help support a better workflow through automation, workflows and customisation.
